A revised Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Metro Purple Line Extension - Section 2 between the City and Metro will be presented for City Council consideration on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. 

 

Weekly Update 2/15/19

Wilshire/Rodeo Station

Construction activities in progress at Reeves Yard.

Construction of a 20-foot tall soundwall is underway. The soundwall will reduce noise-related impacts to neighbors during construction. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 6 pm.* Three sides of the soundwall have been completed. Project information graphics were installed on the completed walls.

Fault line investigations continue on Wilshire.

Drilling and sampling work to assess the soil and geological makeup of the tunnel route is in progress. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8 pm to 6 am.* During work hours, eastbound Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to one lane west of N Santa Monica Boulevard to Roxbury Drive. All three lanes on westbound Wilshire will be maintained.

Pre-demolition activities to begin at Wilshire and N. Canon.

Construction activities for the demolition of the buildings at 9383-9393 and 9395-9399 Wilshire are scheduled to begin February 19, 2019, and are expected to take five weeks. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am to 6 pm. Demolition and hauling activities will take place between 9 am and 4 pm. This work will require intermittent closure of the sidewalk and westbound curb lane on Wilshire.

Wilshire/La Cienega Station

Closures continue on Wilshire Boulevard. 

The following closures* are scheduled to take place during the upcoming week:

  • North Gale will be closed from 6 am to 6 pm on weekdays and Saturday.

Please use alternative routes and continue to respect construction barriers and detours for your safety.

Work to occur on Presidents Day.

Regular work will occur Monday, February 18, 2019, at the Gale and La Cienega construction yards. Work activities such as hauling, excavation, and deliveries will continue as normal to recover lost time due to rain.

The Purple Line Extension will provide a transportation alternative to the congested Westside, including two stops in Beverly Hills: Wilshire/ La Cienega and Wilshire/ Rodeo.

Documents and Presentations

  • MOA Compliance Report
    The Independent Compliance Monitor is required to be on-site for all construction activities to monitor permit conditions and MOA requirements, such as noise compliance, hauling and parking.  Weekly reports are submitted for Section 1 and 2.

  • Contact Log
    The attached logs track contact interactions such as phone conversations, emails and letters for Section 1 (Wilshire/La Cienega) and Section 2 (Wilshire/Rodeo). Metro and the City keep separate contact logs.
  • Claims Process
    As part of the Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Beverly Hills and Metro, Metro is required to maintain an administrative claims process. Residents and businesses may file a claim for damage caused by the contractor during construction of the Purple Line Extension by contacting Metro to complete a field report at purplelineext@metro.net or via telephone at (213) 922-6934.

    You will need to provide the following information: current address, telephone number, date and time of the incident, and a detailed narrative of the incident and any damages incurred. The field report must be completed by a team member of the Metro Purple Line Extension at the email or phone number provided above.

    Please contact Perla Berry with the City of Beverly Hills Project Team at (310) 288-2840 for assistance with submitting a claim to Metro.

    Metro will provide the City with monthly updates on the claims that were filed by residents and businesses.

PROJECT DETAILS - Purple Line

The project is scheduled to be built in three sections.  The first section of the Purple Line Extension will extend the subway from the Wilshire/ Western station in Los Angeles to Wilshire/La Cienega in Beverly Hills.  Section 2 extends from the Wilshire/ La Cienega station to the Wilshire/ Rodeo station and then on to the Century City / Constellation station.
